How Much Pool Paint Will I Need?

22–24m² per 3.5 litre kit per coat.

Actual coverage can vary depending on the surface condition, texture, profile and application method.

Rather than estimating from the litres of water your pool holds, calculate the actual surface area that needs to be painted.
Use the
BG Pool Paint Calculator
to estimate the quantity of pool paint required.

Suitable Pool Surfaces

BG Pool Epoxy Paint can be applied to appropriately prepared old and new pool surfaces including:

  • Concrete swimming pools
  • Fibreglass swimming pools
  • Marble sheen pool surfaces
  • Ponds and other suitable aquatic facilities

Correct surface preparation is essential before applying any pool coating system. Existing coatings and the condition of the pool surface should be identified before painting begins.

Applying BG Pool Epoxy Paint

For brush or roller application, BG recommends a mohair roller with an approximately 11mm nap.

BG Pool Epoxy may also be applied using airless spray equipment. The technical specification recommends a
15–21 thou tip range with a minimum tip pressure of approximately 150 bar / 2200 psi.

BG Epoxy Thinner may be used at approximately 0–10% depending on the application method and conditions.

For the complete step-by-step process, see our
How to Paint Your Pool guide.
