BG Pool Calculator Estimate epoxy, primer or chlorinated rubber before checkout
Start with your pool measurements or its known water capacity. The guide estimates the internal paintable area, checks the existing surface and then shows how much BG Pool coating you require before you choose your colour.
Start With the Information You Already Have
Exact measurements produce the strongest estimate. When only the pool capacity is known, the volume option creates an approximate pool model so you can still begin.

From Pool Measurements to the Correct Paint Quantity
The calculator turns the information you know into a practical coating estimate, shows clearly how much paint you require and then takes you to the appropriate colour and product.
1. Describe the Pool
Use internal dimensions for accuracy, or start with water capacity when litres are the only figure available.
2. Match the Surface
The existing substrate and coating determine whether the estimate shows paint only, primer plus paint or a compatibility warning.
3. Choose Your Colour
Once you know how many kits or cans are required, choose your colour and continue to the matching BG Coatings product.
What the Quantity Guide Accounts For
The result helps you estimate a sensible pool coating quantity before placing your online order.
Internal Surface Estimate
Pool measurements are used to estimate the sloping floor, long walls and end walls. A normal application allowance is added when product quantity is calculated.
Remember to allow separately for:
Large steps, benches, ledges, repairs and heavily porous sections.
Product-Specific Result
The selected coating system and existing surface determine whether the result uses epoxy paint only, epoxy paint plus primer or chlorinated rubber.
Unknown coating?
The colour links stay hidden until the existing coating has been identified.
BG Pool Calculator Questions
Useful points to understand before using the estimate to choose your pool coating product.
Is the litres option as accurate as measuring the pool?
No. Water capacity cannot reveal the exact pool shape, wall area, steps or ledges. The volume option creates a typical rectangular model and should be treated as an approximate guide.
Which parts of the pool are included in the area estimate?
The measurement calculation estimates the internal floor and walls, including the change from shallow to deep depth. Additional features such as wide steps and benches need extra allowance.
Why can the result include both epoxy paint and primer?
Suitable bare concrete, render, pebblecrete, marbelite and plaster commonly follow the BG Pool epoxy primer-plus-paint path. Compatible fibreglass and existing epoxy recoats can display epoxy paint only.
What happens when the existing coating is not known?
The calculator displays a compatibility message and does not reveal product colour links. This prevents an unidentified coating from being treated as automatically compatible.
Why does the calculator show 2 or 3 top coats for epoxy but 3 for chlorinated rubber?
For BG Pool Epoxy, choose either 2 top coats — Standard — or 3 top coats — Recommended. For BG Pool Chlorinated Rubber, the calculator automatically calculates 3 top coats.Primer quantity, where required for the epoxy system, is calculated separately.
Will I have to remember how many kits I need when I choose a colour?
No. The ordering process is designed to carry the calculated paint and primer kit quantities forward after you choose your colour.
