BG Pool Epoxy Primer Kit – 3.5L
The BG Pool Epoxy Primer Kit is a two-component primer system developed to prepare suitable swimming-pool surfaces before applying the BG Pool coloured epoxy top coat.
The kit contains Part A epoxy primer and Part B primer hardener. Once mixed and applied according to the current BG Pool technical instructions, the primer helps seal and prepare approved surfaces and creates a compatible base for the epoxy top-coat system.
Purpose and Benefits of BG Pool Epoxy Primer

When Is Epoxy Pool Primer Required?
Primer requirements depend on the pool substrate, porosity, repairs, previous coating and overall surface condition.
Bare concrete, porous surfaces and repaired areas may require the BG Pool Epoxy Primer before the coloured epoxy top coat is applied.
Standard fibreglass pool repainting may not require primer where the existing surface remains sound. Primer may be required where fibres are exposed, substantial repairs have been completed or the current BG Pool technical specification requires it.
Do not assume every swimming pool requires the same primer system. Identify the existing surface and coating before ordering.
Potentially Suitable Pool Surfaces
Subject to correct assessment and preparation, the BG Pool Epoxy Primer Kit may be used on approved:
- Bare concrete swimming pools
- Porous pool surfaces
- Marble sheen pool surfaces
- Repaired or patched areas
- Fibreglass areas where primer is specifically required
- Other approved aquatic surfaces
Surface compatibility must be confirmed before application. Do not apply epoxy primer over a loose, contaminated, unknown or incompatible existing coating.
Surface Preparation
Correct surface preparation is essential to the performance of the complete BG Pool coating system.
The pool must be emptied, cleaned and assessed before coating. Contamination, chalking, loose paint, failed coatings and surface defects must be properly treated before primer is applied.
Repairs should be completed and allowed to cure according to the repair-product instructions before beginning the epoxy coating system.
Mixing and Application
Mix Part A and Part B only according to the current BG Pool Technical Data Sheet and application guide.
Follow the stated:
- Mixing ratio
- Induction or standing time, where required
- Working or pot life
- Recommended application method
- Required film thickness
- Recoat interval
- Curing requirements
Complete all surface preparation before mixing the components. Once Part A and Part B are combined, the product begins curing and has a limited working time.
